Women's health

To treat those conditions with traditional Japanese acupuncture.

However, changes in lifestyle, stress, and imbalances in nutritional intake can disrupt this ideal state, leading to the experience of various negative symptoms. These symptoms can manifest as menstrual pain, menstrual irregularities, menopausal disorders, sleep disorders, skin problems, and so forth.

While we were in Japan, we collaborated with gynecologists and amassed extensive treatment experience. As members of the Japanese Acupuncture and Moxibustion Society, we also had access to numerous specialized documents not generally available to the public.

We diagnosed the relationship between the unique hormone balances and mental states of women from an oriental medicine perspective, and were able to effectively address cases that could not be fully understood by Western medicine alone. All of these were conducted through various treatment methods based on the traditional Japanese medicine of acupuncture and moxibustion.

Menopause

Menopause is a natural part of the aging process and usually occurs around 51 years of age.

Periods usually start to become less frequent over a few months or years (perimenopause)  until they completely stop (menopause). Around 1 in 100 women experience menopause before 40 years of age, this is referred to as premature ovarian insufficiency.

The changes in hormone levels during perimenopause and menopause, particularly the decline in estrogen can cause acute menopausal symptoms.  Many women experience vasomotor symptoms such as hot flashes and night sweats. Some women also report vaginal dryness and psychological symptoms, including fatigue, insomnia, forgetfulness, and mood swings.

Menopausal symptoms are common, and depending on their severity, can have a major impact on quality of life, health, and wellbeing, as well as productivity. Acupuncture can have a positive effect on these symptoms.
