Infertility

"How Many Acupuncture Sessions Are Necessary?

Individual needs for acupuncture treatment can significantly differ based on various factors. These include the nature of the condition—whether it's chronic or acute, the specific ailment being addressed, and the overall health status of the individual. Generally, patients seeking fertility assistance may expect around three months of consistent treatment and close monitoring. However, everyone's medical needs are unique and can deviate considerably from this average.

For those planning to undergo IVF or other assisted reproductive procedures and desire acupuncture support during the process, we can certainly coordinate this.

We encourage patients to begin regular acupuncture sessions as early as possible before egg retrieval and transfer. This approach is aimed at priming the body to reach its optimal state for the upcoming procedure. We typically recommend weekly treatments through gestational weeks 6 to 8, but your acupuncturist will provide personalized guidance on your treatment plan.

How Do We Evaluate Progress?

One of the main treatment objectives is stress reduction, given its well-documented connection to infertility. A decrease in stress levels, a common outcome of regular acupuncture treatment, can therefore serve as a key progress indicator. Furthermore, a reduction in side effects from fertility drugs often signifies progress. Symptoms like irritability and mood swings, which are commonly experienced when taking fertility medication, tend to decrease with regular acupuncture treatments—another indicator of successful progress."

What treatment is right for you.
