How many sessions do I need?

As each person is unique, the number of treatments needed will vary. Among the determining factors is the type of condition being treated, whether the condition is chronic or acute, and the over health of the individual. On average, fertility patients require about three months of consistent treatment and monitoring, however, there is a big range and variation in patients' medical needs.

If you are planning to undergo IVF or other assisted reproductive procedures and wish to have acupuncture around the day of transfer, this can be arranged.

We recommend all patients receive regular acupuncture as far in advance of egg retrieval and transfer as possible. This helps to prepare the body to be in optimal condition for the procedure. Again, you should discuss your treatment program with your acupuncturist. As a rule, we recommend weekly treatment through gestational week 6 ~8

How Is Progress Determined?

Because of the known link between stress and infertility, decreased stress, which is commonly experienced by patients when they are receiving regular acupuncture treatment is another treatment goal. A decrease in side effects from taking fertility drugs is another commonly reported indication of progress. Again, because of the link between stress and infertility, decreased symptoms of irritability and mood swings, commonly experienced while taking fertility medication, are an indication of progress.

What treatment is right for you.
